Welcome to the website of our hand made home. We’ve created this site to chronicle the journey of owner-building a home in Beechworth, Victoria, Australia.
You can also connect with us on Facebook.
A big part of our desire for this project is to welcome the involvement of many others. There will always be lots to do on site, and we expect to have something happening most weekends.

Almost the last of the internal membrane (ProClima Intello) installation done.
With all the fiddly end board details done – the upstairs lining boards are all installed.
The last of the upstairs plaster sheets are in place!
Intello internal membrane disappearing behind the internal Baltic pine lining boards. The red cap is covering the MVHR system outlet. And the tangle of wires and LVL at the ridge is a mounting plate for the ceiling fan. Onwards!
Lining boards (all 70 of them!) all hauled upstairs and stacked ready to install (and before the rain). Phew!
Hauling plaster sheets up to the second floor, one by one, using a made to fit ladder frame. Good exercise for sure!! Certainly much easier with the 1200mm sheets.
A pleasingly neat ellipse/circular hole in the ceiling for the fireplace flue. Creating it upside down at height on an angle certainly required focus! Not to mention getting the location correct.
Bricks cleaned, stacked and ready for internal wall (many spiders and a mouse family lost their home of a few years!)
